As usual, the field was taken full of other teams by the time we arrived. The opponents were even later than us.

By the time it's our turn to use the field, 3 of our hungry players have already gone to Mac nearby to eat. Dasch started out with 9 players against an U - 16 team.

Things happened rather fast, so here is a short glimpse of what this reporter have in his memory.

Having the withstand 11 enthusiatic youths with 9 men was not an easy task and it's no surprise that the opponents overwhelmed us and took the lead. A simple slot in from the opponent opened up the goal feast.

The return of Cheng Cai was announced when he took a simple shot on goal. 1-1. He was on form again when he scored the 2nd time on his first full start of the season.

Some inconsistent defending allowed 2 attackers to climb on top of Raymond. Under tremendous pressure, Raymond was unable to prevent the opponent from a simple kick in to leave the spectacular Eng Kiat with no chance. Chek couldn't play GK due to his sprained finger.

The 1st half ended with the score at 2-2.

2nd half kicked off with Cheng Cai trying for a shot from the half way line which whizzed pass the goal miserably wide.

However, he redeemed himself with 3 goals which would have Daniel (if he was ever present) cursing himself. He proved that he was a proven scorer with a fine precise header from a deep cross by Desmond on the left. 2 of his other goals were from some off the penalty box shooting by Bryan. Both powerful shots hit the post and all Cai did was 2 simple tap-ins.

The nomination for the goal of the season must certainly include the spectacular volley from Cheng Cai. With his back facing the goal, he trapped a pass to him and turned his body 180 degrees before unleashing a stinger pass the GK.

A dejected Silver Mercury managed to climb back with 2 more goals. One from the off side position and the other due to some slack marking from Dasch defenders. The opponents could have added a few more if not for the spectacular saves by Eng Kiat. Twice he denied them with reaction saves from free kicks.

Dasch managed to get another goal from an opponent own goal to make the score 6-4.

The opponents were all U-16 but it's still a win for Dasch nevertheless. We deserved a pat on the back given that our entire frontline less Cheng Cai was unavailable. Well done!
