So many goals
were scored in this match that I couldn't really keep up with
the scoring sequence, but I will try my best to recount for history's
sake.
First, the
match preview....the miserable Captain's job started 3 days before
the actual Match Day with the calling up of the whole Dasch Team.
All confirmed to come except for Cheng
Cai (gastric flu), Manager
Tan Eng Kiat, Rui Bin,
Yiying and Jiamin
saying that they would try to make it. Daniel
Ding said the place was too far away. Stanley
was uncontactable. Zixin,
our guest player was activated due to shortage in our strike force.
Two and a
half hour before kick off, a confirmation call to everyone was
given. Sui Jin pulled out
(injured toe), Cheng Cai still
sick, Yiying down with flu
(or want to do tutorials), Stanley
was in Geylang...oops...Genting. We are in deep sh*t...
Pee...pee...kick
off with the line up above...
As usual,
Dasch had a jittery start. (Why do all our match reporters have
to write about this???). We ALWAYS settle down late, letting the
opponent stroked the ball around in our half. The muddy and wet
pitch didn't do much to help our cause.
To our supporters'
dismay, Dasch were 0-2 down within 20 mins!!! Their first goal
was an acute angle short from our right flank which stunned everyone.
Our defence was left stranded due to the fact that the offside
rule was not been played and the opponent made full use of it.
The player got a through ball behind our defence and gave a shot
which gave Chekkeng "Cheky"
no chance.
Their 2nd
goal was somewhat similar to the first except it was not from
our left flank. A powerful acute angle shot which Cheky
did very well to parry it into the air, but not enough to push
it over the cross bar. The ball came dropping down like bird sh*t
onto our goal line which an opponent striker gladly push it in
from 5cm out with Lester chasing
him 5cm behind.
Nevermind..said
Daniel. The defence still
did very well and the goals are not really our fault. Alvan
was replaced by Jiamin and
Lester was pushed to the
right back position by Manager Tan
to provide some stability to the defence and letting the "ball
stucked to his legs" Jiamin
torment the defenders.
The irresistable
(stupid) Daniel provided most
of the highlights of the 1st half from our side. Mingheng
was brought down in the opponent's penalty box and Daniel
without any hesitation, volunteered forcefully to take the kick.
His reason? To break his goal drought. Wow.
The run-up
was good...BANG.. the ball hit straight to the GK's right and
he was able to parried in into the puddle of mud in front of his
feet. Good huh?
2nd hightlight
from our flamboyant boy...A goal mouth melee resulted in Daniel
having the ball 3 metres out of the opponent's net, and the chances
of scoring far out-weights the chances of missing. However, of
all people it was Daniel and
he blasted the ball sky high above the cross bar. He knew he was
letting the team down, from his expression during the half time
break.
2nd half started
with the same formation.
Our center
midfielder Desmond can always
be counted upon to provide some inspiration to the team. This
match boasted another one of his brilliant performance. After
a corner followed by a goal mouth melee, the ball dropped to Desmond's
feet outside the penalty box and Desmond
coolly blasted the ball into the top right hand corner of the
net. It could have been easily one of the nomination for Goal
of the Season. The power and accuracy was upmatched. 1-2.
The opponent
cranked up a gear after that, and from a bad back pass by Kenneth
to one of their midfielders who did a defence splitting pass to
catch our defence off guard again. Eng
Kiat who was having a tough time controlling the defence
did remarkably in attempting to run back but his effort was in
vain. The opponent striker hit a shot pass Eng
Kiat which left Cheky
stranded on the spot. 1-3.
Dasch still
fight on after that. Cheky
was replaced by Daniel (!!!..actually
he played pretty well!). Cheky
moved up and the move was rewarded. A pass from Cheky
to Mingheng found the latter
dribbling pass 2 defenders before letting in a lop over their
dumbfounded GK from 20 metres out. Wow...what a spectacular goal!!!
The talented Mingheng tormented
their defenders throughout the entire match and this beauty was
not enough to boast his enormous flair. 2-3.
Immediately,
the Dasch celebration was cut short by another "not our fault"
goal from the opponents. A cross by one of their wingers found
one of their forwards who jumped higher than Kenneth
from behind and headed into the empty net. 2-4.
What followed
after that was pure ecatasy!!! Zixin,
who was pretty low in stamina after a long lay off, did a shot
from the left flank which the GK had trouble holding on to it
and he pushed it into his own net!!! 3-4!!
The last goal
was even better! It was so good that everyone jumped up after
Raymond scored! A fine string
of passes by Dasch which went like this..Tianrui
won the ball, passed to Mingheng
who flicked to Raymond, he
passed to Cheky on the right
edge of the box. Cheky gave
a quick low shot which rebounded off a defender's body into Raymond's
path. The nimble winger had the time to place the ball precisely
into the top right corner of the net!! 4-4!!! What a goal!! It
was the first time that Dasch really celebrated the goal with
everyone jumping for joy and congratulating each other.
The goal came
in the last minute of the game and it ended with a well deserved
draw for Dasch Rovers. The match was almost thrown into disarray
when Lester had a quarrel
with the captain and walked out of the team (shame shame) and
the blur Alvan took over.
Nevertheless, the two had made up and still continue calling each
other "Assholes".
We could have
won if Daniel and Zixin
had more match fitness. Of course we must not forget we didn't
have the service of our regulars Cheng
Cai (who could have contributed greatly to the game,
by holding the ball up longer), Sui Jin
& Stanley.
Applause also
for our defenders, people like Tianrui
and Lester really developed
into menacing never say die defenders. They are the quiet ones
who contributed greatly to our game and received the least compliments.
Eng Kiat was instrumental
in clearing all the dangerous balls and tidying up the mess the
team created at the back. Not forgetting our midfielders and forwards,
who without much support, managed to hold their own up there.
There are too many bright points in the game for me to mention...but
keep it up guys. Well done and may the force be with u guys again
for next match!!!
