How to start winning, or start hiding our faces analysis by Alvan 150799

In the wake of our disastrous defeats in our last 2 matches (aggregate score was an embarrassing 12-2 against), it is clear we need to do something...anything.. We are becoming, of all things, like Charlie Brown's hopeless baseball team. Oh boy....Heads must roll (hey guys, what about our stupid captain's), players must be axed, tactics must be reviewed and the manager must be sacked. Ok, ok just kidding...... we'll get serious... starting now...

Firstly, I have to put it on record that this is largely written out of compassion for Kenneth. I see him making so much effort to create & update DaschWeb, mostly by himself. I must admit his match reports were entertaining too...though Yiying seems to take quite a lot of flak (fairly or unfairly I don't know since I was not present then). So I will contribute something here as well, for what it's worth.

Secondly, I cheerfully admit I'm not qualified at all to carp on about improving our ball skills, stamina, tactics when I'm arguably the worst, least fit player of all of you. I could give lots of reasons why this's so...but I guess no one is interested in hearing it, so I'll skip this part. But I bet you'll still be interested to know what bright (or dim) ideas I have....so just read on ok...

It's true that our team has improved a lot since our virgin RI days, when we regularly got trashed by other teams whenever we played (which is quite often). After NS, the guys have grown physically and become taller, stronger, hunkier, smarter whatever... And our playing skills - in terms of passing, dribbling, holding onto the ball, shooting - have likewise improved. But a lot remains to be done if we want to be a truly respectable, feared team (our opponents will laugh their heads off at using these words to describe us). There's still too much kick & run tactics, aimless passing, lousy positioning and lack of team work & understanding.

We do have players who are creative & technically skilful (you know who), and players who, though they're are not so gifted, more than makes up for it with their energy & persistence to grind the opponents down. In theory we can blend them together to put up a balanced side which can attack & defend with competence. The potential is there. We need to work on our tactics, ball skills/training & fitness. Let's look at each of the components in turn:

(At this point I feel like a fool, why am I typing these when I could have been reading the cool book "No Common Power-Understanding International Relations"...but the heck let's move on... I like the feeling of acting stupid..)

Tactics: Less pumping the ball skywards and hope our strikers somehow receives it. Less kick & run & hope we can somehow get a result. As if. We should focus on improving our tactical awareness, stuff like one-twos, running into space, intelligent positioning, effective team work. Yah, easy to say, but how? I suggest training sessions where we can practice these. I know most guys have a negative view of training cos we won't be PLAYING, but training. But the hell, we can make training fun, like how the pros do it. (I'm not sure of the details but there should be some experts around in the team who knows...) I believe I mentioned training before, & also smaller 5 or 7 a side matches between ourselves, but this idea, sad to say, was shot down... But hey our last 'training' session had a good attendance right?.. Also, some well-to-do guys here can buy their own footballs which they can bring to training & share. So we'll have more than 1 miserable ball for so many people.

Skills: This is similar to the above, but more on individual things like shooting, passing, trapping and dribbling skills. We sure can improve on this aspect....practice more. These we can practice during training too. I see Kenneth says no more matches for now... why not training sessions instead? Of cos taking into account studies, chasing girls & other more sane activities...we may not have much free time or chances to do so, but let's try... But if you still not convinced & have no interest in training, then my whole thesis collapses at this point.

Fitness: This should be the least problem of all to you guys, since you're generally so damm fit. This is more of personal thing, like working out at gym, jogging etc. And hahaha...anyway you have to take IPPT right? Right. But no problem right? Right.

Oh yeah, can also try to increase our fan club members (preferably more babes) to attend our matches, blow kisses at us as we strut onto the field and also perform cheer-leader stuff in sexy outfits...these will inspire the guys.... over to fan club I/C Zhang Han.

So fellow Dasch players.... now it's up to you, our captain & manager to follow up on my suggestions. Post your replies, comments, insults in the Forum (or wherever our captain-webmaster-editor-God decides)...

P/S: On an unrelated note, I'm kind of interested to know what your fave clubs, players are....well you know mine. And stop laughing ok... Also, this info maybe can include in our players profile section.

The editor says....Hahah...I love this guy. Comments to his analysis at our forum page.
