Our 1st lost this year is an affair of lousy defending, lousy passing and lack of ideas. Much of these resulted from the strange and untested formation. Our main stay sweeper, Eng Kiat was nursing an ankle and back injury. He had to put himself in the stopper position as he couldn't shoulder the heavy responsibilites expected from sweeper with those injuries. Without his commanding presence in defence, the whole lot was a total chaos. Further adding to the already slacken defence, Bryan (who just returned from Australia) was given a reminder of the tough Singaporean play. He was given a flying tackle by the opponent as both were going in for the same ball. His role in the match ended there. Yiying's role just started.

There was a reshuffle in the team defence with Desmond taking over the role of sweeper. Against the run of play, Dasch scored an unexpected goal. A spilting pass from the ever diligent Desmond to the running man, Cheng Cai resulted in the opening goal. Cheng Cai picked up the ball and cooly slotted the ball pass the goalkeeper into the net. The opponent woke up from then on.

2nd half was a nightmare for the defence. It was in total sixes and sevens as the opponent overran it from all directions. Without any substitutions available on our bench, we were at a severe disadvantage as the opponent brought on fresh legs to replace their wingers. The 2 new wingers dribbled pass our exhausted full backs with much ease. It was inevitable that the opponent scores. With quick succession in the last 20 mins, 4 goals were slammed pass the hapless Chekkeng and Eng Kiat (who took over Chekkeng in the later part of the game). To add to the already chaotic defence, our forwards and midfielders were running out of ideas. Yiying was totally lost in the midfield and the unlucky Mingheng forgotten to put on his magic boots. Cheng Cai faded out of the match. Our 2 wingers were totally exhausted and ball watching took over them. The only close tries Dasch got were a missed sitter by Mingheng with only the goalkeeper to beat and Kenneth's outside the box shots hitting the bar twice.

The lousy match ended with one last free kick from the opponent. They drove the ball over the net.
